Ukraine and France sign contract for purchase of helicopters «AIRBUS HELICOPTERS»

On July 14, a contract was signed for the acquisition of 55 helicopters “Airbus Helicopters” for the system of aviation security and civil protection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the framework of the Agreement between the governments of Ukraine and France.

The document was signed by Director of the State Enterprise Ukrainian Aircraft and Transport Company “Khoriv-AVIA” Gennadiy Ball and CEO of Airbus Helicopters Bruno Iven.

During the event, Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov said – yesterday the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the Law “On ratification of the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the French Republic on official support for the establishment of a unified aviation security and civil protection system in Ukraine”.

He said – “I`m glad, that we have reached this point of our year work. Yesterday, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed a corresponding law ratifying the agreement between the governments of Ukraine and France, and today we have every reason to start working in order to have this helicopters in our country of this year already”.

Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said that citizens’ security and timely response to challenges require a high level of technical support for law enforcement agencies.

“We reform the whole sector of the law-enforcement system and internal security of the country. Citizens’ safety, timely response to challenges requires a high level of technical support and equipment for our structures. This contract, which we sign, gives us the opportunity to get 55 helicopters to be used to ensure the security of Ukrainian citizens. Today, we finalize the huge work that was carried out by Arsen Avakov, the entire team of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and French partners. And we are starting an important project for Ukraine”, – said Volodymyr Groysman.

In turn, Airbus Helicopters Chief Executive Officer Bruno Yves emphasized that helicopters meet the highest standards of technological equipment.

“They will contribute to the successful implementation of all missions that you anticipate in their use in terms of providing civilian security. The contract and the partnership that it initiates is not limited to the supply of helicopters. It has a more global focus. It is about gradually developing your competencies and operational capabilities in the field of maintenance”, – he said.

Let’s remind that helicopters of French manufacturer will help to carry the service of the State Service for Emergencies, the National Guard, the National Police and the State Border Guard Service. MIA plans to get three model helicopters – H145, H125, and H225.

H125 exceeds other single-engine helicopters by productivity and versatility, does not require a high level of service and demonstrates high performance in the highlands.

H145 has a high degree of operational readiness and flexibility, especially in a hot climate and highlands.

H225 – owns the highest in the industry characteristics of speed, range, loading and reliability in the category of 11-ton two-engine cars.

The main tasks of the helicopter units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be rescue and public order, criminal investigations, antiterrorist and special missions, state border guard and road safety.
